    We are looking for coaches who are committed to GFEMHA and who desire to work with us to provide the best possible hockey programming for our players.

    With this in mind, we will not consider any application from any applicant who is requesting a PTS or NRP form.

    2. CONDUCT -

    Our Coaches are the face of Greater Fort Erie Minor Hockey. We expect that our Coaches will:

    Be a positive role model and an advocate for GFEMHA.

    Conduct themselves at all times with values demonstrating fairness, integrity and mutual respect.

    Refrain from comments which are disrespectful, abusive, racist or sexist regarding players, parents, Association volunteers/employees or any other GFEMHA Member whether verbally, by email/text or on Social Media.

    Avoid negative, sarcastic or abusive comments or behaviours towards game officials and discourage these types of comments/behaviours from players/parents.

    Avoid any behaviour, which brings GFEMHA or the sport of hockey into disrepute, including but not limited to those behaviours described in the GFEMHA Code of Conduct. See to read the Code of Conduct.


    All GFEMHA Coaching Staff Members must ensure that they have or complete valid Coach/Trainer Certification, Team Leader Respect in Sport and Police Check/Waiver by no later than AUGUST 1st.

    Set seasonal goals and objectives for the team.

    Strengthen relationships and build teamwork. Ensure that all team members feel that they are important, regardless of ability. • Focus on the development of abilities, personal (leadership, mentoring, cooperation) and individual skills

    Demonstrate behavior as a role-model, encourager and sincere and unbiased instructor.

    Ensure proper supervision in the dressing rooms and on the ice at all times.

    Work to quickly resolve disagreements amongst team members. Ask the Executive for assistance as necessary.

    Report any abuse to the Executive immediately.


    Plan effective practices well in advance of actual practice times.

    Teach hockey skills appropriate to the age using the proper sequences and progressions.

    Teach to players varied learning styles, aptitudes and levels of ability.

    Communicate to players using appropriate language and tones.

    Provide a disciplined environment for the player to learn and grow in.

    The intent of the program is to put the best available coaches on the ice with the players.   A coach may be removed from his/her position at any time if it is determined they are not meeting the expectations of the Board of Directors or if they fail to comply with the above Coaching Expectations, they may be relieved of their position immediately by the Executive.

  3. (i.e. no outstanding fees, not the subject of a discipline investigation or sanction by the association)
  4. (Do not include suspensions from referees received in game situations)
